The Man Who Knows Everything

Father talking to his daughter sitting on his lap in a living room with a fireplace and bookshelf

Some advice comes from studying a textbook
Some from the life skills class your teacher took.

Some ideas come from hours of thinking with your friend,
But only one person tells you everything end to end.

That person’s advice is like a survival guide,
Some things are very important to abide by.

I learnt that curtains could replace a napkin,
And that getting 35 marks wasn’t a sin.

Stare at your first button while getting scolded was advice no. 1,
And this information could get you out of a tight situation.

All of the advice was already tested firsthand;
They were revised, perfected and made easy to understand.

Not just about mischief, but all the answers he knows;
The only thing he doesn’t know is where he kept his glasses a minute ago.

If the topic ever comes to investment,
It will be the happiest he has ever felt.

Not just a talking Wikipedia, but also a peacemaker is he;
Like the UN, does he try to bring peace and make people happy.

But when some new stationery is bought, the fight can’t be resolved;
Between him and me, the ownership can’t be solved.

Usually he takes it, but not for so long,
As it would come back to my desk, where it rightfully did belong.

A person for whom nothing is impossible is he;
Yup, being serious is something he just can’t be.

When everything seems dark and gloomy, he is the bright light,
And when everything is fine, well, he’s the annoying voice provoking you to fight.

So this is the very special person I wish to say,
A very happy Father’s Day!!!
