Rani Laxmibai refused to be trodden down,
Rani Velu Nachiyar fiercely holding her crown.
Naidu kept the flame alive with her words,
While Kittur Channamma fought wielding swords.
Kunwar Singh proved age is just a number,
Razia Sultan proved nothing could stop her.
Bal Gangadhar claimed Swaraj through Kesari,
Meanwhile Chandrashekar Azad lived and died free.
Mahatma Gandhi fought through non-violence,
Subhash Chandra Bose founded an army for defence.
Jawaharlal Nehru was the face of youth,
While Bhagat Singh stood with justice and truth.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel stood with farmers to the end,
British general Tatya Tope helped to fend.
Swaraj was supported by Lal-Bal-Pal,
And Matangini Hazra, who continued to stand tall.
But are we using our freedom the way it was meant to be?
Can we misuse our power just because we are free?
Does the right to speech mean the word has no boundaries?
Is this the future our freedom fighters wanted to see?
Still among us, we continue to fight,
When they gave their heart and soul to unite.

Amazing to see the long-forgotten names of our freedom struggle, who have not earned that respect, and are lost in history books. I hope that every child is taught about ALL the freedom fighters, who lost their lives to build a future for us, which we are lavishly enjoying today. Thanks Aabha, for reminding us the past, and also the lost civic sense for a better future. God bless you always.
